Simply put the off shore bite has been pretty mixed up this week. Fishing was rough, slow, and way off shore. So we took that as a sign to do some inshore fishing for Roosters. Joined with my good friend Andrew and his family we took the Placeres. A new edition to the fleet featured in our packages. It wasn't long before we had our first fish on. A nice 8 lb Spanish Mack. Shortly after that we noticed many other yachts joining us with the same frustration due to the weather. It wasn't much longer before we got into this 45 to 50 lb rooster just 20 meters off the shore in front of my favorite beach town Monterrico. A nice fight for Andrew. While we only had a half days worth of fuel and time set aside, many other boats went on to catch even 7 as one boat released the lucky number. As I always tell my groups, be ready for a change if the weather or bite doesn't work with us. Guatemala is the sail fish capital of the world no doubt, but the new marlin bite and rooster bite might be the newest sensation to get new anglers down here. Especially with so much undiscovered coast line, this is bound to get better. More to come. Capt Starrs
