Guatemala's pacific coast is by far the ''Sail Fish Capital Of The World'', and quickly becoming the ''New Blue & Black Marlin Hot Spot'' according to Marlin magazine in 2011.  With numbers like 124 sail fish released in a single day, and 57 on the fly in one day, it's hard for any other region in the world to compete with this year round bite.

But why does Guatemala have such great bill fishing?

That's because of the Equartorial Counter Current.  A well defined west to east flow that creates a type of bill fish highway which gathers most of the bill fish just off of Guatemala's coast.  That defined current can be as far as 50 miles some days, but plan on at least a 20 mile run on avaerage, and if you're lucky 5 mile days do occur.
