''Rio Dulce'' or the ''Sweet River'' as it is called in English is home to some of the most lush, and tropical scenery that Guatemala has to offer.  This region of the Atlantic was originally known as the single most important Banana producing port of all Central America.  In fact this coastal area alone inspired the nick name for the entire Central America which used to be called ''The Banana Republics''.  This incredible jungle terrain has since then transformed into a easy going sail boat hub for many sailors passing through the Caribbean.  During hurricane season you can expect many sail boats to hold up in this river because of the high valleys that over look the river and protect it.  We have opened this lodge for the reason that we want to offer both pacific big game fishing to our clients, as well as lite tackle and even world class fly fishing tours.

Our lodge is brand new in the in the sense as of this year we are introducing a full service marina for sailors and power boats alike.  We have many slips that have all the needed hook ups (water, 220 electric, fuel, etc), as well as full functional bungalows with complete kitchen and water front views.  This resort has a massive fresh water pool available for all fishing clients, as well as marina renters.  One last important factor is the 24 hour security for both the docks and general property.  While we have never had an issue, we know the importance of your property and well being.

At the Rio Dulce Lodge we will be doing many kinds of fishing tours from this location with the Blue Bayou Guides.  The lodge is about a 1 hour boat ride to Punta Gorda Belize.  This part of Belize is located just 20 nautical miles from Guatemala.  This region is home to some of the worlds finest flat fishing, as well as lite spinning style fishing.  Such species includes Bone Fish, Tarpon, and of course Permit.  We are also 30 minutes from a known Guatemalan hot spot for monster Tarpon on conventional.  Tarpon in this area can get up to 200 lbs, and can be caught on deep diving rapalas with braided lines.

Lastly, our lodge will have many nature tours that will include site seeing for various birds, Iguanas, monkey's, and even incredible snorkeling tours.  Rio Dulce is a true paradise, with peace and quite as one important virtue.  We encourage the whole family to come, see you soon .
