While at Marina Pez Vela like a majority of the boats we are doing maintenance on our fleet.  So fishing reports tend to slow down, due to the fact no boats are going out.  However, there is a good Marlin Bite, and sails are starting to come in more and more as late Oct closes in.  Today was a great day for Tuna it seemed, meaning Marlin are around.
Arriving at 8 am and fixing noticeable problems, tuning the motor, rewiring this and that.  Finally at 11 am we decided to take the boat for a run to make more notes on what is needed for our customers convenience and the needs for the Capt and Crew.  Based on previous reports at only 8 miles you could find a nice cut into blue water, and in that very water was even a nice Blue Marlin released a day before.  However, all we had were a few lite weight spinning outfits, so that wasn't likely for us that Saturday.   Upon leaving the port the ocean was as calm as I have ever scene it.  Pushing 32 knots with no waves made a 6 mile run only a 12 minute hike more or less.  We started seeing very good water in the 6 mile range, and we decided to let out the lines and troll out.  After only 5 minutes of trolling we had two lines light up.  We ran into a school of yellow fin tuna it seemed.  After a good fight we hauled in a 12 lb yellow fin, while the other got loose.  Another note, we had no ballyhoo (no live bait).  We only had skirts or witches trolling on the top of the water at about 6 knots.  Repeating this trolling pattern and speed got us many more in only 2 hours.  We were even able to release a Sailfish that was going after our teaser. We decided to call it a day after 8 Bonita Tuna, 1 Yellow Fin Tuna, 1 Dorado in the ice box, and released sail.
Fishing is great right now, and contiunes to improve.  Expect to hear more and more sails showing up in the next 3 to 4 weeks.  Hurry now while the prime season approcahes to get your reservation confirmed.
